Creditsecure raising price or reducing service

I have been a subscriber to Creditsecure since it was first offered.

Yesterday, I asked for an updated report.

The new message said I had one more new report available until July 26.

It also offered me the opportunity to UPGRADE to unlimited pulls for ONLY $10.00 additional payment per month (total $21.95).

Bye-Bye Creditsecure . . . Smiley Mad

I also noticed that they sneaked in their "upgrade". I called the next morning to cancel, they tried to hard sell me to keep the service there was no way I was going to keep the service. I switched to USAA, same service as the upgraded version of creditsecure and it is only $.051 a month more expensize, but they let you ppull all three daily.

Re: Creditsecure raising price or reducing service

Thank You!

I just signed up for USAA credit monitoring and it appears to be very similar to CreditSecure.

When I called to cancel, the CSR tried very hard to convince me to keep it but I just told her my decision was made.

Re: Creditsecure raising price or reducing service

Yes it is very similar, and it appears that they will generate a FAKO score for you on a daily basis though I can't confirm that. The graph has your score as of each day that you pull a report so I assume that if any significant changes occur it will recalculate your score. Of course it isn't FICO so the score doesn't mean much, still is nice though. The only other thing I noticed is that it only has a direct "back door" into Experian, whereas CreditSecure had a direct "back door" into Experian and TransUnion, allowing you to view your actual report if you clicked on dispute. You can save your report as PDF and print them out as such as well which is very convenient, also you could archive them and save them for your own records to track changes over time as needed. I really feel like you get what you pay for with their service.

I posted this also on creditboards when I found out that they upped the cost of their service it caused a mass exodus to USAAs service. I have a feeling that Amex/CreditSecure et al. didn't realize the full impact their decision would cause when they decided to "upgrade" their service. I won't be suprised at all if they offer us a discounted rate to come back to CreditSecure in the future.

Re: Creditsecure raising price or reducing service

I'm a creature of habit and I don't like change.  As long as USAA maintains the service I subscribed to at the rate they have quoted, I would not consider changing, even if Creditsecure lowered their price.

Would you believe that the Creditsecure CSR had the nerve to tell me that the CRB's only update once per month so 2 pulls are more than adequate?  And, as with any good lie there is a modicum of truth.  The CRB only updates each ACCOUNT once per month because that is all that is reported.  But, the way she stated it, she would have me believe that the entire report is only updated once per month.

I wonder now if the increase in price was part of their original model?  Can you say "Bait and Switch"?

Re: Creditsecure raising price or reducing service

Wow, the CSRs are really getting desperate. I had them hard sell me on the other benefits, and he also told me that I could get my report through the dispute link, I countered saying that I can't get my equifax that way and I didn't appreciate them changing the terms of the service without warning me.

Is this a service through the USAA Insurance Agency or a company using a similar acronym?
