DEBT!! Satisfying a Collection

Hello ya'll.  Trying to clean up my mom's report so she can get a new car!

She has two payday advances on her report...each for $315.

I just "settled" one of them for $200.  They said that they are going to update the credit bureau as "paid" and "not in collections."

But they said if I pay the whole $315---they will take the whole thing off my credit report.

I'm assuming the latter is true---but is it even possible??? Help!!  PS, can I negotioate with these people??  Them seem nice!

Re: DEBT!! Satisfying a Collection

Yes, a creditor can remove an account from your CR and is very possible.

You settled, which is negotiating.  They came back and said they would remove for the entire balance.

Re: DEBT!! Satisfying a Collection

I would pay the whole thing off in a heartbeat. Make sure they put that in writing, that it will be removed entirely from all three reports.

Re: DEBT!! Satisfying a Collection

A little confused...

Has the OC merely reported that they have referred for collection, and is the only one reporting to your CR, or has a debt collector actually reported a collection?

If a debt collector has reported an actual collection, the OC cannot agree to delete that reporting...........
