DIfferent scores through different outlets?

Hi All,

Thanks for any help. Getting ready to get pre-approved, and want to know what the heck is REALLY going on..

I have been using myFICO only for info. But am going to dispute a few collections that I have paid in full, and have been told they could be taken off of my report. My current myFICO scores are:

EQUIFAX  628

TransUnion 692

I assumed this was my score. Every month I check them,a nd they appear to be going up.

Now, to dispute a few items, i was railroaded into Transunion's main site, and they had me sign up for some type of reporting for all three agencies, but i ahve a free 7-day trial. I signed up, and TU is reporting scores that appear to be WAY higher. As in,

TU 774

EXP 758

EQ 769

All are graded "C". Which am I to believe? I highly doubt the TransUnion site is considered FAKO right?? Im really in a jam here.

Thanks so much in advance for any help,

JT

Re: DIfferent scores through different outlets?

One more thing.. To dispute a collections issue now, do you have to go to the individual site and then pay for one more monthly montitoring? That sounds a bit unethical to me. How can I just DISPUTE!?!

Sorry, but yes it is a FAKO.  Scores at MyFICO are FICO scores.  Scores elsewhere are not.  The various CRA want you to buy their products, hence the "railroading".

The TU score here is the TU98 model.  There are others.  TU04 is only available through a lender, and is the one most frequently used.  TU08 is also out there, and is available through WalMart.

EQ score here is Beacon 5.0.  There is also a Beacon 9.0 out there as well, but only available through a lender.

Re: DIfferent scores through different outlets?

Ok so what does that actually mean? I log in to the "real" Equifax site, pay them, and it says my EQ is 713. Whats my lender going to use/see when I go to get pre-approved? Thanks for the help.

Re: DIfferent scores through different outlets?

The are going to see the EQ FICO score, Beacon 5.0 or 9.0.

EQ website does sell their FICO score.  It is hard to find though.  Make sure it says FICO before purchasing it.

Re: DIfferent scores through different outlets?

Okay. But is Equifax's fico score the same as on my fico. ( Beacon 5.0 ) or is it Beacon 9.0?

Unless they've recently upgraded (doubtful), the FICO you get from EQ is Beacon 5.0.

EQ site FICO score is Beacon 5 same as myFICO.  I was only letting you know that lenders do have the option of Beacon 9 but it isn't widely used.
