Re: DOES A SOFT PULL DETECT HOW MANY INQUIRIES ON YOUR REPORT?

NO ... my question in detail is that when a creditor does a soft pull ..can they detect how many hard pulls that have been placed on your report?

Yes, they can see hard pulls, but that isn't what you asked. You asked if they could see soft pulls.

A soft pull sees exactly the same thing as an HP.  There is no difference between the two other than how they are coded.

Re: DOES A SOFT PULL DETECT HOW MANY INQUIRIES ON YOUR REPORT?

There is only one type of so-called soft inquiry that does not receive access to your full credit report.

That is a so-called promotional inquiry made under the provisions of FCRA 604(c), which can be made by a credtior in order to obtain a listing of consumers to make an unsolicited offer for credit.  Per the restrictions set forth in section 604(c), the get your name and address, but can get no account-specific information.

Other than that type of solt pull, the credit report is the same for a soft or hard pull.

The distinction is that the soft inquiry is, by definition, not included in any credti report obtained by others.

Please don't use all caps as it is yelling.

Score doesn't matter.  A soft pull is a soft pull.

As for number of hard pulls, keep in mind that hard pulls are a relatively small factor.  If one is getting denials for hard pulls then one has other issues with one's credit that need to be addressed.  Hard pulls are generally not an issue for well established credit profiles in good standing.  I have 13 with one CRA and have never had problems with approvals and terms including mortgages and auto loans.  There are others that have more.  On the other hand, there are those with thin and or weaker credit profiles who will run into trouble with far fewer hard pulls.
