Re: DOFD

DOFD is when an account becomes a charge-off. Call the CRAs and ask when the DOFD was.

Re: DOFD

Is it 7 years from the DOFD that the collections account should drop off of the credit report, or is it  7 years from when the latest JDB bought the account?

A collection can report up to 7 years after the DOFD. How old is this collection and what state do you live in for the purposes of determining your SOL (statue of limitations)?

Re: DOFD

I live in California, the JDB reports that the account was opened on 6/1/06 (Is this is when the JDB bought the debt?), it also states that the last active date was 2/1/2004.  I assume that the DOFD is somewhere around 2004.  I am thinking of preparing a PFD letter to send, but I am honestly not sure if this will help.

Account opened is when the JDB got the account, this is not the DOFD. Is this debt yours? If so, what is it? When did you first learn about this JDB?

Re: DOFD

This debt is mine (unfortunately), it is from a old Sprint account.  I learned about this JDB about a year ago when I was checking my credit.  They have never contacted me, this is why I think a PFD letter might work.  On a side note, on my Experian report the creditor is listed as "Cavalry Portfolio Services" and on my Equifax report, the creditor is listed as "606yc13027"  The balance and dates match up, so assume they are the same creditor.  Do you happen to know why there is such a discrepancy?
