DV Response from CA. What is my next step?

I just received a response back to my DV sent to Credit Management on an old AT&T Entertainment account they are trying to collect.  It says the following:

Per your request, Credit Management, LP notified AT&T Enter of your claim regarding your past due account.

This letter serves as notification that AT&T Enterain has researched their records and verified that your account is overdue and that you continue to owe the amount of $xxx.xx

To avoid futher collection action we advise you to settle your obligation in its entirety immediately by using the tear-off coupon, etc.

I am outside the SOL in Texas.  Is this enough for Validation?  What should I do now?  They did respond within 30 days.

From what I have read on these threads, that's not even a lame attempt at a DV. What is their right to collect from you? Send them a really strong DV letter. Search for Lonnster, he posted a really good one on the threads last week.  GL.

How old is "old"?

When DVing, the CA is under no obligation to respond within ANY period of time, at all. They can choose to just go away, or they can choose to validate. In either case, they cannot resume collection activity UNTIL they validate.

When DVing, the consumer has a 30 day window, but under Texas state law a consumer can DV at any time.

Re: DV Response from CA. What is my next step?

The account is from 2003.  In fact Experian shows that it should be removed in Feb 2010.

About a week later after the letter I posted on the OP they sent me a copy of my last bill with AT&T Home Entertainment.  I am still not sure if this qualifies as actual validation.  I am tempted to just send them a PFD for around $200 b/c I really just want this off my report.  They can't sue, so that is about the only way they will get any money from me??

Should I PFD since they sent me the last bill or should I send a follow up DV spelling out what all constitutes validation?

Are both Credit Management and ATT reporting on your CRs? Am I correct in that ATT is the OC?

Yes the OC is AT&T Enterainment.  The CA (CMI) is the only one reporting on my CR's!!

Is there a big difference between what the final ATT bill says and what the CA wants?

Re: DV Response from CA. What is my next step?

Actually the CA is showing a balance owed of $360ish and the final bill from AT&T they sent me shows a balance of $380ish.

Re: DV Response from CA. What is my next step?

I'd say if you believe their numbers are poop, then I'd keep pressing 'em on validation. Since you're beyond SOL, it would never be an issue unless you choose to initiate a lawsuit against 'em for failing to validate. If you filed pro se, it might pan out for you.

However, path of less resistance and faster resolution might be a PFD offer of $150-200.
