OK. Where did you find list of licensed CAs for FL or can you say? Why do I need to file with Cal AG?
Avon Park, very small town right in middle of state, approx 80-90 miles from Orlando to NE and Tampa to NW, 10 miles from Sebring (you may have heard of the Sebring Races/Camel GT)

Ignore everything and just type in the name

I grew up in South Fl. and I hate it. I moved after hurrican Andrew. I thought we were all dead!

My son & family live in Tamarac...just south of Boca...I go visit them

You file a complaint with the AG in your state and in theirs. The ags office will investigate & has the right to pull their license! In Fl if they do not have a license  the AG can fine them big time OR put them in jail.

I am in Connecticut and a CA must be licensed and can NEVER file a lawsuit. They have to hire an attorney that is licensed in Ct.  Every state has their own laws when it comes to consumers and consumer law!  Here the AG will go after any CA with very high fines.

I had Palasades on my CR...not only were they not licensed but the state had revolked the one that they had. I filed a complaint & Ct. fined them big time....also the AG in their state NJ  opened an investigation.....they can revolk their license or put them in jail   whatever thir law states.

Re: DV or What? Please respond ASAP!

I just checked the account number listed by the OC on CRs from 2006 & 2007, the number is not complete, but is not even the slightest bit close to the account number listed on letter from CA as OC's Original Acct Number, The numbers don't match at all.

Could be because FL goes by DOLA not DOFD.

Re: DV or What? Please respond ASAP!

Nothing shows on old CRs as Charged Off by OC and it wasn't a CC, it was a personal loan (secured/household purchases).  Letters from CA have several addresses in Cal and one in PA.  I don't even know which one to send DV letter to.  The one I sent the origianl letter to is not on the most recent letter they sent me.
(DH is from Dania)

Re: DV or What? Please respond ASAP!

Does this mean CA is exempt? Do I not file with AG?

Re: DV or What? Please respond ASAP!

The address that you use is the one that is on the letter ( in Cal)

Call the AGs office  get the # for the dept. that handles this. ( here it is the banking dept)  Find out if they are licensed...they have offices in several states BUT the state that is contacting you is the one that must be licensed.

Do not send any money untill you find out if you have to!!! They CAN NOT put it on your CR!!!!

They must (federal law) answer the DV within 30 days or STOP all collections!!!!!

Re: DV or What? Please respond ASAP!

Thanks. I'll send DV to CA and will call AG.  Please let me know if you find anything else that might help.  Since CA hasn't reported to CRs yet, should I delete any info re: CRs on DV letter?
It's after 6 PM here and DH should be home. I'll fill him in and will check back soon.
This is only one issue, there's more.  Earlier info on med col helped, too.
Trying to get the FICOs up, CRs clean and the all accounts resolved.  We've made a lot of progress, but still have more to address.
Thanks to all of you for your help so far!  I'll check back shortly.

Re: DV or What? Please respond ASAP!

File a complaint on them with the bbb and get your terms and everything you want in writing. You can do it online at bbb . Trust me I did'nt know how much the bbb worked until this past week I've filed several complaints and told them in writing what I wanted and they responded with the bbb in writing exactly what I wanted. This is the easiest dealings I've had with collection agencies and Credit agencies . So far its worked for Verizon , cingular , direct tv, Tmobile, medical bills , sprint, Rpm collections ... They sent me everything in writing through the BBB so they can't change their mind later ya know I've printed everything for proof if what they said turns out to be lies all I gotta do is fax away .
