Data point: Affinity FCU pulled my ChexSystems in Q4 2022 (but not EWS)

I've seen a number of sources on the internet stating that Affinity FCU does not pull ChexSystems. It appears I was an exception!

In Q4 2022, I applied for (and got) a savings account and debit card from Affinity FCU (didn't apply for other products). I was accepted.

A few months later, I pulled my ChexSystems and EWS, and I see a ChexSystems inquiry from Affinity. No EWS inquiry.

At the time, I didn't have any reports frozen that I can think of. I know for sure that I did not have the following frozen: Equifax, Experian, TransUnion, ChexSystems, EWS, ARS, Clarity, Certegy, Innovis, LexisNexis. So I don't think it was a "we couldn't pull what we would have normally pulled so we pulled Chex instead" type of situation.

A good 90% of those "No Chexsystems" lists are completely inaccurate or outdated. Affinity has been pulling Chexsystems for years now.

Assume that all financial institutions pull Chex for account opening, even if you've read that they don't.

In your other thread 5 days ago about EWS you posted a link to DoC. If you saw this one from DoC:

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/banks-credit-unions-dodont-pull-chexsystems/

You would have seen they do pull ChexSystems.

And, therein lies the issue -- the first sentence (bolded).

As pointed out upthread, even the DoC article with historical comments clearly indicates that Affinity doesn't use EWS.

I read and watched YT videos on the interwebz that I could adopt a 🐼 bear, so I'm still hopeful.

Hey, I read on the internet that I can adopt a bear. Do you have any advice on how I should go about starting? I just had my ChexSystems pulled, is that going to be a problem for me?

The first time I tried, I had some minor injuries and got investigated by animal control. But the internet said it could be done, so I wont give up!
