Date of Last Activity - Feb 2001 - Deleted in 2008?

My Equifax says that Credigy debt was last active in Feb 2001. Does that mean in Feb 2008 or August 2008 that it will be deleted from my file?

I believe it is an Associates Visa card from 1999. The original limit was $1000. Some reason it says it is $5510 although I've never had a credit card for over $1000.

If I call Credigy, this won't reset the 7 - 7.5 year period right?

Thanks.

It's too close to dropping... do not call anyone... and never call a CA.

Most likely Feb 08 but as you know it could be up to 180 days extra.

A direct report pulled from EQ will give you the exact date it is set to drop.

Ok, my EQ from MyFico won't show the drop date?

So I should pull it direct from EQ via AnnualCreditReport?

BTW, I've only seen the "schedule to delete" on an Experian report from AnnualCreditReport.com for a different debt.

Thanks again! Super contributor!

Re: Date of Last Activity - Feb 2001 - Deleted in 2008?

For this Credigy debt, the direct Experian report says Date Opened 12/2002. Credit limit $2144 and balance $5515.

MyFico Equifax says Date of Last Activity Feb 2001 and has it listed as Credreinc, largest past balance $2144 and current balance $5,279. ????

Is it legal to increase a $1000 credit card to $5515?

Typically it does not.  My EQ from myfico.com doesn't.  I am not sure if the free annual one shows it... I guess you got lucky that it did have one that showed a deletion date.  You have to go right to equifax.com and pull.... if you want, as it does cost $10.   Smiley Happy

Looks like someone added penalties and interest fees.  It can be legal yes.... but you'd have to stir the pot to find out who charged the fees and what they were for.

Pot stirring close to deletion date= bad juju

Hmm... you know what?  Give EQ a call before you pull the report and see if by chance they might be able to tell you.  Can't hurt... hope I got ya before you pulled though!

Re: Date of Last Activity - Feb 2001 - Deleted in 2008?

I just spoke to Equifax, who was just a sales person, but they said the Credigy account will be deleted 7 years from 10/07 since I disputed the validity of the account via the credit bureaus over the last year. I never contacted the creditor.

This is not true correct? How do I get Equifax et al to change this?

Re: Date of Last Activity - Feb 2001 - Deleted in 2008?

I called back to dispute this and the new lady said -no- it did not reset the 7 year clock. I was emphatic to the first lady that it did not reset the clock but she disagreed. Anyway, the new lady gave me a confirmation number and I have to call Monday to dispute it over the phone (which she said was the best way).

No clue what the first rep was on.... yikes!  I was hoping they would be able to give you the exact date because I am only guessing that the 2nd rep meant exactly 7 years to the month.

Again, I do not recommend disputing this as again it is so close to dropping.  They might dig up an accuracy that might work for you, but also they might dig one up one that has you banging your head against the wall.  Just be warned.  Smiley Wink
