Date of update?

When I was a mortgage broker, it was a general understanding that we waited until the 12th of the month before re-pulling a clients credit report to see if their score went up from the previous month.  Although, I don't know where that date came from, or if it was even based on anything.  Is there a particular day of the month that the 3 bureaus change credit scores, or is it more based on when the actual creditors report their monthly updates?   This is another issue where I hear different mortgage people quoting different days of the month.  Thanks in advance.

Re: Date of update?

It is my understanding that when a company reports to the CB, it updates immediately.  It is not uncommon for mine to update several times a month.

The vast majority of creditors report on or shortly after the statement closing date. Theoretically, a person could have 30 accounts, and those accounts could have 30 different reporting dates.

Credit scores are computed at the time a CR is requested, and are based on the CR data at that particular moment.
