Delete as authorized user

My wife lost her job in 2012.  She was able to get another job, but it took her a few months.  Two credit cards which I have never used she has me listed as an authorized user.  These two accounts are showing on my credit as late.

How do I get deleted as an AU and should I dispute these on my credit report? They are showing as late on my report. I only have one late report other than these two and the one I have that's legit is five years old.

Thank you

Re: Delete as authorized user

The request for a creditor to report your account to the credit file of another as an AU originates from the cardholder, with implied consent of the party to be added, and the best approach is to have the cardholder notify the creditor that they want to discontinue the authorization.  The creditor then deletes the AU reporting.

Some will advocate disputing with the CRA as "account not mine," but I dont.

By definition,  being an AU means the account is anothers, and it is in your CR by consent.

Thus, there is no inaccuracy in the showing the account of another in your CR if placed there via the AU process.

No inaccuracy = no basis for dispute.

No dispute additionally does not pester the creditor with a formal dispute that is actually an administrative matter, and avoids the posting of a pending dispute flag in your credit file.

Re: Delete as authorized user

I had a similar situation, my husband had a credit card with chase and had added me as an authorized user . The card went to collections and ended up on my credit report as a charge off. I called them 2 days ago and they deleted it with all 3 credit bureaus and are sending me confirmation that this will be completed in 7days, and they told me as an authorized user I wasn't responsible for the debt, and so I hope this helps. Not sure how other banks handle it but I hope they are as useful and helpful as Chase was because I didn't even know they could delete it for me but they did.

You don't have to use them to be an AU.  She had to contact the creditor to add you at some point.  Have her contact the creditor to remove you.
