I have 4 deragatories on my CR.
2 charge offs - about 51/2 years old
2 judgements - about 5 years old
The judgements were deleted today and my score only went up 2 points. Does that sound right???
One derog generally has a significant effect on your score. Each subsequent derog has a much smaller effect. Of course, it works backward, too. When you get the last derog removed (or when it falls off) is when you'll see the greatest improvement.
I might have thought you'd see more than a 2-point increase, but I wouldn't have expected a lot more than that.
Payment History, as with other scoring categories, is scored by first segmenting consumers into different categories, or "buckets."
In the scoring game, this is referred to as Scorecard Segmentation, and is a very common practice in scorecard development.
That permits scoring by comparison with others having the same general characteristics, rather than comparing to the general population.
While the specific categorization is a trade secret, it is generally known that while there are major derogs still remaining, the consumer remans in a less-favorable "bucket" that is often referred to as "dirty." Major derogs are any monthly delinquencies of 90 or more days, any charge-offs, collections, or public records.
The result is that removal of major derogs will not have as significant an impact on scoring while other major derogs remain (i.e., while the fiile categorization remains "dirty").
When the last major derog is removed, and the file then becomes "clean," that is when the more significant scoring increases are generally seen.
What everone else said.
As a recent example:
30/60 late from late 2010
tax lien from late 2010
collection from late 2010
Colllection just got removed on TU/EX, 4-5 points FICO 8. Nothing on any EX model besides FICO 8.

We really can't tell you that X change = Y points. What you experienced is certainly within the realm of possibbility as long as you still have significant derogs on your reports. Don't let that demoralize you and keep at it.
While rebuilding, my score has ping ponged all over the place so much I don't really bother with it too much anymore. I focused on getting my outstanding debts paid first, and then tried getting everything that was paid, removed(sooner is always better than later hehe).
In 2019 my last paid collection will be removed unless I get lucky with GW's before then, & then in 2020 my last paid judgement falls off & my reports will finally be clear. Can't wait!
For now I focus on getting my current CC debt paid off so I can work towards getting the best car loan possible in 6 months or less.
