I have a deliquency reported for my Kohl's charge card, for 60 days past due. A couple months ago I lost my Kohl's card which left me unable to log on to my account on the Kohls website. I called customer service shortly after to report the card missing as well as to gain access to my account online. The representative I talked to told me there was nothing he could do over the phone and that I would have to go into a Kohl's store to get the matter resolved. So maybe a couple days later I went in to Kohl's to get it figured out, and they told me I would have to call. This conflicting information left me confused and figuring there was a $0 balance on the card anyway, I let it be.
Fast forward two months and I'm getting a call to pay off the card. The women I spoke to waived the late fees (without me having to ask), and I paid off the balance over the phone. Checking myFico score, I see that I got hit with a 60 day late delinquency for this mishap.
So long story short; I'm looking for a number to call to see if I can get this removed from my credit report. The account is listed as Kohl's/Capital One on myFico report. Should I try to contact Capital One (who I assume is the lender for the card), or contact Kohl's? Since the card went missing, I'm not even sure if it was an authorized purchase that was made.
I've had the Kohl's charge card since July of 2012 and this is my first late payment. I also have a Capital One credit card from August 2012 with no missed payments. If that helps me at all.
Also, I still don't have access to my online Kohl's charge card account or the card number, will I need this to be able to dispute?
Do you not receive statements?
and while in store they didn't tell you that you had a balance and you didn't know?
I haven't been recieving statement for several months now since I moved to a new address. I hadn't even thought about that to be honest. But I did change my address at the post office when I moved and have been getting mail re-directed to me for anything that has an old address. I'm not sure why the Kohl's statements wouldn't have been re-directed. I wasn't told of my balance when I called customer service the first time to report the missing card. It could be possible that there was no balance at the time though? The guy was very unhelpful regardless. In the store, they didn't even attempt to look up my account. They just told me to call the customer service.

The stance on credit card balances is that it is up to the consumer to know where they stand witgh creditors. That being said, it sounds like you were put into a tough situation. I would definitely would dispute this on all levels.
If you have issues relating to credit card billing, the primary means for dispute is the Fari Credit Billing Act ratehr than the FCRA.
The FCBA disute process, unlike the FCRA dispute process, requires production of documentation. It permits addressing of billing related matters regardless of whether they have also resulted in credit reporting of derogs.
So I got a call from the exec office on the 3rd, but I wasn't available to answer the phone and I didn't get a voice message. I Called back later in the day but the representative assigned to me had left for the day. I was told she would be sent an email to call me the next day. By 4pm I hadn't gotten a call back yet so I called again. I was told by the man who answered that my representative was on the phone with another customer but would give me a call afterwards. I figured that she wanted to leave for the day so I didn't think much of it when I didn't get a call from her that day. That was on Friday. It is now 3:30pm on Monday and I haven't gotten a call from the exec office yet.
I'm not sure if I should call back again or send another email at this point.
