I just requested a CLI from Dell and got it!!!!! Was 1,500 and is now 3,500!!!!!!!!

I was thinking about calling them for an increase also. Tell me more. Did they do a credit check? How long have you been a customer, etc.... I would sure like to know more before I ask. How do you expect the increase to effect your score or UTl?

I have been with them for a year but never used the account. The only reason I requested a CLI was to help my util. I specifically asked if I would get an inquiry and they said they would only pull a soft. I called paypal buyer credit for a CLI but they denied me.

I recently asked Dell to decrease my interest rate and they did by 5%.  So I called all of my creditors and most of them decreased my interest rate bay at least 5%.  Be sure to ask about a decrease in interest rate as well when trying for credit limit increases.  You might be surprised.

I don't intend to use the account at all I just got it to help my overall utill. I think I might still call and ask for a decrease in the interest in case I feel like splurging. I called BestBuy while responding to this and they denied me for the decrease. They said I have the lowest APR they offer.......

How is a soft different than a hard pull from a creditors stand point. I mean what is the difference in what they see between the two? Do they still get a score with a soft pull. No I am curious. I am glad the only do a soft.

A soft pull does not affect your credit. However a hard pull does. I don't know if they get your score with a soft pull but the basically review your report to see if your a risky person to lend to.

Thanks for the notion to try. I got a $1500 CLI. I have been carring a balance (at 0% APR) on the Dell card, before I even knew about UTL and other stuff. That increase changed my UTL from about 74% to 35%.

What kind of scores for Dell?

What do your scores look like when you requested the CLI?  When I opened they gave me $1500 and then a CLI up to $2200.  I'm looking to buy a couple of pc's now and need more credit.
