No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I enrolled in this service and was informed that I had a Credit score of 674. I was directed to various offerings based upon that score. One of those pertained to credit cards that I would be eligible for.
I applied on-line for a CitiBank Rewards card that was suggested to me.
I was rejected.
The explanation for the rejection was:
" o A delinquent credit obligation(s), either paid
or unpaid, was recorded on your credit bureau report. "
My past history was that I was in dire straights 3 or 4 years ago and went to debt consoldation.
I spent 37 months paying all of my bills. I am now almost debt-free.
There are eleven (11) "negatives" on my report, all of which state that I had a delinquent credit obligation which was paid.
I thought that paying one's debt's was a good thing and would make me a viable candidiate for credit. How long will these "negatives" continue to hurt me?
Also, FICO should more fully explain to clients that just because they are directed toward a credit card that they can qualify for based upon their score does not mean that they will get that card. It appears that it doesn't matter to the credit card companies whether the debt was paid or unpaid, if the debt was delinquent to begin with. However, doesn't FICO focus mainly upon providing assistance to clients whose debts were at one time or another "delinquent"? I am seeking a remedy in enrolling in this service.
However, I don't need this service if it cannot demonstrate a way to correct the damage that I have done to my credit. If the answer is simply that "it is what it is", I guess that I can take it the rest of the way on my own.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer an explanation.
Which score is 674? Is this the CR that the creditor you applied with pulled?
As I mentioned on your other thread, negative accounts remain 7 - 7 1/2 years from DOFD, paid or unpaid.
It is possible to have them removed earlier, due to GW letters. I explained this on your other thread also.
FICO focuses on providing you with a credit score that is the same as what most of your creditors will use, so that you will know where you stand as a credit risk based upon score. The forums focus on helping people out getting beyond past credit mistakes, understanding credit, learning what not to do and what to do, etc.
I am not sure what you mean by "However, I don't need this service if it cannot demonstrate a way to correct the damage that I have done to my credit. If the answer is simply that "it is what it is", I guess that I can take it the rest of the way on my own."
The answer isn't simply "it is what it is" there are things you can do, as explained in your other thread.
