Denial due to Chexsystems, then received PIN# in mail ?! so confused....

i applied for a checking account and received a denial letter stating i was in chex systems. i had 1 bank close my account but did not owe them any $ and have other bank accounts so i was confused.

after receiving the denial letter from Citibank, the next day i received a PIN#. does this mean i got the account? im afraid to call customer service but when i put my SSN into the system it asked for my debit card number. this is so weird!

I'm pretty certain that Citi does use chexsystems.  It could be that they issued the debit card before they ran the chex, but you won't know unless you call.

Have u pulled your chex to see what's on there?

im going to wait and see what happens. it turns out there were 2 applications....because they thought the first was not received. one one app i am a student and on one app i am not. wonder if that made a difference.

ps- one of the apps had my middle initial and one did not. the pin# that came in the mail did not have my middle initial and the letter of denial did. so maybe one was denied and one slipped the the cracks somehow.
