Direct TV - Will Disputing Reset Fraud Alert?

Recently, I thought about getting Direct TV and called for pricing.  I called first number, they said they had to check credit but that there was a fraud alert and I had to call another number.  Called second number and he asked the question, said everything was good, call the first number back.  Called the first number back and they said they I needed to call 2nd number back because fraud alert was still in place.

I knew that by then that at a minimum, It would take 5 calls and I was already on the phone with them over 30 minutes just to get pricing so I gave up on them.

The inquiry has now shown up on my report, yet I was not able to accomplish anything with them because of their mistakes. The people that would make the decision couldn't even look at it. I really don't want this sitting on my report for 2 years and am contemplating disputing.

I have a fraud alert set on my account which is set to expire the end of this year.   I'm not sure how many years it has been there but I would really like it gone.  If I dispute this, will that reset the fraud alert and keep it on my report for many more years.  Will I even be able to dispute this to get it off of my reports?

A dispute wouldn't reset the FA. If i had that, I would send them a modified non-PP letter and mention what you mentioned here.
