Discover Reopened closed account without my permission

I had a Discover more card since May 2011. It had. $6000 credit limit and I never really used it.   It stayed dormant for about 2 years.  They slowly decrease my credit limit and then in June 2019, I got an e mail saying the account was closed due to inactivity.

I can home today to find a new statement.
Discover reopen this in July 2020.   They apparently reopened the same account same card number.  No explanation,  my credit limit is now $500.   I cannot even have a date night with that limit.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

You need to call them...make sure this is legit.  Did you log in to see it really is open?  Did it ever report as closed on the 3cb's?

Re: Discover Reopened closed account without my permission

Thank you,

The account still reports as closed with all 3 cb.  I was able to log into the account.. so odd.  It has a credit balance of ($.26).

I called the rep.  Asked her to close the account.  She told me it is not opened,  the statement was to advise me I had a credit.   So the wasted .55 to let me know I have .26.

strange.   I will keep a watch on my credit reports.

I would definitely keep an eye on it especially with the notice of a 500 dollar credit limit showing in the email. Something is definitely going on...a computer or human error.
