Good Morning,
Thought I was figuring this out BUT.... My Discover Statement cuts on the 20th. I owed 29.95 so I paid that and used the card again on the 19th. Takes 3- days to post. Checked Discover all weekend so last night the website showed my 29.95 payment and 0.00 due on the 15th. Just the way I wanted it considering I have been paying several times a month. I’ve been trying to swipe a lot and PIF.
Checked my EX score and it shows my balance as 76.05 not the 0.00 that my statement shows 🙄. So I lost 3 FICO points. I thought they reported what ever my statement showed? 3 points is a lot when rebuilding. I just printed my Statement and it shows balance 0.00! I did expect them to report highest balance as $76.05.
I've been with Discover for 4 1/2 years; they've never once reported any balance other than the statement balance.
So that is strange.

+1 with Discover a number of times and not I stop use several days short so they can't do it.

It’s honestly not a big deal in the grand scheme. You can wait til next month to have things recover, or you can get your balance to zero and call customer service at Disco to request an off-cycle report - they’re great about doing that. I paid a big chunk of mine off some months ago and wanted it reflected since my report date was 2-3 weeks out still. Called up, was on the phone for two minutes to request it, and the next day my alerts showed the balance change. Disco was happy to do that.
Thanks for the tip. I just paid 2400 bucks off my balance today and was wondering what it would do to my score. I should call them after it posts and ask for this since then I will be able to isolate whether this made a change easier.
