Dispute Negative Items with Credit Bureaus first?

c/p from another site: Under the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, you may: Dispute any information on the credit report that you feel is listed incorrectly. The credit bureau must re-investigate and verify the information (Usually within 30 days.) My question is should I dispute all negative items that showed up on my credit report from Experian, Equifax and Trans Union before doing a PFD to the CA. Thanks in advance

If you have reason to believe thay are not yours, or not accurate, that is a good way to start
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Before doing anything know what your rights are. Also know your SOL. so you will not run into trouble by a lawsuit.

Usually you would

links with a lot of info.      ask as many questions as needed.

Re: Dispute Negative Items with Credit Bureaus first?

My advise it to figure out the "Best and Worse" thing that could happen when you dispute a perticular TL.

Learning as I go...If I dispute a TL what would be a "worse" thing that could happen. The last thing I need is to have some CRA pissed at me..hehe.

Re: Dispute Negative Items with Credit Bureaus first?

Early on - I disputed an account with a 30 day late-
What I got was a 30, 60, 90

Another account with a 30 and 60- changed to 30,60,90,120 FC paid after foreclosure started.

Do the research BEFORE you dispute.

Re: Dispute Negative Items with Credit Bureaus first?

wow...I honestly wish I understood what u worte =) I'm so new to this I have no clue. I guess I should start out with a brief explanation of what I need. I don't have the best credit but it's time to buy a house. Before that I need to clean it up.
Break Down:
I don't have my FICO score just yet...last I checked (2 years ago) high 500s
3 Negs on my credit report from EQ, EX, and TU (want to dispute)
Reason for dispute: Hope to get lucky and have them removed due to lack of documentation.

Here is a break down of the negs I want to dispute. Total debt is not too bad it's something I can payoff with a PFD letter to have it removed but why if there is a chance to have it removed this way. I apologize if there is too much info but not sure what info is pertinent or not.

Re: Dispute Negative Items with Credit Bureaus first?

No risk in disputing collections except bringing it to their attention.

I recommending sending a DV (find this in the 101 thread) CMRRR and dispute the moment they sign for it.
