Dispute - over 30 days - no response

I faxed a dispute to TransUnion on 11/02/07.  The fax number I used was 610.546.4606.  I printed the transmission verification report that shows it was transmitted on 11/02/07 at 4:56 pm.  I included the following in my fax:
Name, other names, address, telephone #, employer, ssn, dob, and driver's license #

My dispute stated that the information was incorrect because it was a duplicate account

I included a copy of my credit report with both accounts circled in black sharpie

I also included a copy of my driver's license, social security card, and current utility bill
I have not heard anything back from TransUnion - what do I do now?  Thanks.

Cathleen

have you checked you CR to see if it was corrected?  why didn't you just dispute online?

Re: Dispute - over 30 days - no response

I've usually disputed everything by mail (CMRRR) and may go back to that.  I tried the fax method since people have stated it's quicker (and cheaper - CMRRR starts to add up).  I've never tried online - can you dispute online if you haven't purchased a recent credit report from that company?

I'll guess I'll check my TU credit report now, since it's been over 30 days - although, what happens if it's still not gone.  It was on my TU report as of 11/21/07.  They only  have 30 days to delete or respond, right?

Re: Dispute - over 30 days - no response

Don't dispute online, use fax or CMRRR. There was a Congressional Report that I read where it stated that when you dispute online it's not considered seriously and you don't have proof that you actually sent a dispute.

If you dispute via fax or CMRRR you have a record (keep that transmission report) that you sent correspondence, and then there was no reply.

I don't exactly know if the CRAs have 30 days to respond or not... that's a vagary in the FCRA and FDRPA

Guys, take a slightly cheaper route with CMRRR.  You don't need the green card.  The USPS has electronic RRR that only costs about $0.85. You log into USPS, track the CM number and tell them to send you the RRR to an e-mail account.  They send you an e-mail with the receivers scanned signature.
11/14/07 TU 567 - EQ 561 - EX 577
11/29/07 TU ??? - EQ 573 - EX ???
12/10/07 TU ??? - EQ 579 - EX ??? - 60% util - OOPS!

Great information.  Thanks My_dog_FICO.

Do you believe it really necessary to have a "signature"?  I have been doing only CM, and then print the tracking from USPS showing delivery date & time...so it's free - just wondering...

OK - I guess I was a little overzealous on this one . . .

I got my TU report in the mail yesterday . . . and . . . they DELETED the duplicate CA.  I think I got lucky on this one.  Here's the history:

  • Current CA reporting on all three credit reports.  This CA is not licensed in my state and I have started procedings to address that issue with a number of state and federal departments.
  • Old CA was only reporting to TU and with a $0 balance - from what I've read on here, I think they have the right to report that way.
  • OC is not reporting anywhere

Anyways - one more gone - Smiley Very Happy

If you wanted to file on the CA, with them living in another state, where would you file suit?  Small Claims?

Thx!
