Dispute vs. Exercising Patience?

I have an unpaid medical collection from a very long time ago. The collection reported to my EX and TU CR for the past 7.5 years. The collection fell off my EX report near the end of April. My disclosure from TU stated that the aprox date of removal for the collection is 5/2012. The collection is currently on my TU CR and I am really anxious to get this off my report. Should I just let nature take its course? or Should I dispute it as "No longer liable for this account?"

TU lags ridiculously.

We barely entered into June. Personally, I'd give it a few more days.

The correct procedure is not to dispute the continued appearance of the information in your credit file.  It is not an issue of accuracy of credit reporting, and I would not invoke a dispute flag on my file when the issue is actually one of compliance of the CRA with FCRA 605(a) and (c).

The issue is not one of "no longer liable for this account," but rather the improper inclusion of the specific information in your CR.

I would send a letter of complaint to the CRA for their violation of the exclusion provisions of sections 605(a)(4) and (c).

Unless you have a burning need for the higher score (i.e. if you have a planned app), then I'd just wait it out. However, if you're impatient or need it off, then Robert's suggestion above is the right way to go about it.

This is very true! Could be a blessing in some circumstances and a curse in others. My plan of action was to start sending letters by the end of this week or the beginning of next.

S/N TU certainly does not have any problems loading my email's spam folder with solicitations. If they put half of their efforts in punctual reporting as they did in marketing maybe more creditors would utilize them exclusively (maybe not).

I'm not necessisarily apping at the moment but I would like to get a few auto insurance quotes after the update. I have been in "time out" for a substancial amount of time. This is a long term goal of having a Fico score of over 700, a goal I set in 2007. The collection was updated May last year so it's affecting my score as if it were only a year old Smiley Mad Needless to say I've been waiting for this day for a very long time.
