Hello all. This is my first post! A few months ago, i was looking for insurance. I found a place where they offered the lowest price/quote available. Ok, so i went down to the office, signed the papers, and left 2 post-dated checks as down payment. Right, so i never received any documents that i signed that day, even after i requested the papers. So that i did not like..you are supposed to receive copies that same day. I went to office depot so the insurance company could fax over the certificate of insurance. They told me to wait 10 minutes. But 10 min. turned into 3 hours! So i was at the office depot for 3 hours waiting to receive a correct certificate of insurance. At this point, i did not trust this insurance company. Seeing that this whole transaction turned out bad since the beginning, i was not satisfied with the service. I never received copies of signed documents, and i never received a proper certificate. After calling the manager of this insurance company, we ended up having an argument. In the end, on the phone, the manager himself said he would cancel the policy. So i agreed. So this is what i did..I placed a stop payment on both checks i had left as the down payment. Now the insurance company has given the account to a collection agency. I have a collection agency trying to get money that doesn't belong to them. So my question is, is there anything that i can do so this collection wont get reported against my credit? I am currently disputing this collection. Thanks for reading this long post, for those of you who did. I appreciate your response in advance.
