Disputing accounts with almost NO information listed - how?

So I've trying to rebuild my credit, and have managed to raise it a whopping 12 points in a year (admittedly, all I've previously done was make my minimum payments, so I'm getting much more aggressive now about paying down balances), but there's one very big account that I'm sure is putting a lot of hurt on my record:

I'm not even sure where to begin disputing this. I've never had a credit limit anywhere near that amount in the first place, and as I'm looking to finance a car soon, I don't want to wait until December to fight this. Any advice on where to begin with this?

Is this only on EQ?

I'm not sure - I haven't bought the other two as of yet, since I'd read (somewhere) that Equifax is the only one that reports the true FICO score, and was the best one to focus on. I do suppose that purchasing the other two would be the logical next step. Smiley Happy

I would dispute it with the CRA EQ is good for disputes, they will send you a letter attatched to a new credit report along with how they validated the debt name of CA addy and possibly a phone # or if they removed it.

You can't DV it there is no addy to send it to.

I am almost willing to bet that this gets removed with an online dispute.

Re: Disputing accounts with almost NO information listed - how?

The really fun thing was when I just bought the Experian report: my score was much lower (well...not that there's a very long way to go!), but the AAC account shows more information, but it also shows 25 counts of 90+ days late! Is there any sort of form letter I can use for something like this? My apologies if I'm seeming sort of clueless - I have been reading the forums a lot, but this whole credit thing is fantastically byzantine.

Re: Disputing accounts with almost NO information listed - how?

Account as OPEN is a NO NO, They CANNOT report a collection as OPEN for any reason.
If you DV them as you DID NOT sign any contract what so ever with the CA and you want their proof that you did, I bet you won't get it LOL. Be careful though I have heard of a CA
sending something with your siggy on it BUT it had nothing to do with them, it was from the OC and they may try to pose it off as it is one of their documents, you have to watch these rascals
If they do, GET A LAWYER and sue the crap out of them!

DV them

Before you DV them do a search for Open collection accounts, I know there is a thread here about that somewhere.

Would you mind telling me where you find this information at? As, I've always been told/understood that they CAN report it as an open account if they own the account, collections account if they are only collecting on it.

You might not have had a credit limit that high, that might be the balance after all the fees/interest is added. Is contact information listed for AAC? If so, I'd suggest you DV them and then go from there.
