Do DV letters count as 'activity' to CA's?

I cannot get a clear answer as to whether or not a Debt Validation letter (DV letter) sent to a creditor counts as an 'activity', thereby resetting the 7 year timeline before it is removed from my credit. I do not want to reset this timeframe as I at or past the middle of the the 7 yr period, but the DV letter looks like something I want and need to send out.

Absolutely nothing can reset the 7-7.5 yr CRTP once the debt goes to a CA. Nothing can legally make it report any longer that the 7 yrs.

Unless...from my understanding...you make a partial payment to the collection agency and then stop paying again....(is that wrong?)

That can set the SOL not the CRTP.  Two different beasts.
