Do all three CRAs go by DOFD for deletion?

Do all three of the CRAs go by the DOFD when deleting entries off a CR? I thought I read somewhere that EQ goes by DOLA, but TU and EX go by DOFD. Is that true?

If I had an account where the first late payment was in 03/2003 but the account was closed and paid off in 06/2005, would it be deleted from my CR in 02/2010 or 05/2012 with each of the CRAs?

You are correct about EQ using DOLA and EX & TU using DOFD.

To answer the other question, we need to know when the last delinquency was. Were you past due when you paid it off? If so, 2012.

Re: Do all three CRAs go by DOFD for deletion?

It was reported to EX and TU as being 30 days late on the date I paid it off 06/2005. The last 30 day late that was reported to EQ was on 11/2004. So would that mean it would be deleted on these dates:

TU/EX: 02/2010
EQ: 10/2011

I'm confused by them using DOLA. So, if I were to make a payment on a account due to age off in 6 months, it will remain on the EQ report for another 7 years b/c DOLA would change?

Re: Do all three CRAs go by DOFD for deletion?

I literally just opened a copy of my credit report that EQ mailed to me. It says this:

Facts You Should Know

The length of time an account or record remains in your credit file is shown below:

  • Collection Agency Accounts: Remain for up to 7 years from the Date of 1st Delinquency

  • Credit or Other Reported Accounts: Accounts paid as agreed remain for up to 10 years from the Date of Last Activity. Accounts not paid as agreed (ie. delinquent, charge off, accounts placed for collection remain for up to 7 years from the Date of 1st Delinquency

So according to their letter, they also go by the DOFD and not the DOLA.

Re: Do all three CRAs go by DOFD for deletion?

I'm wondering if they place the "DOFD" in the "DOLA" field b/c maybe they don't have a "DOFD" field? I don't have a current copy handy to look.

I was thinking it was actually Experian that used DOLA. And EQ and TU used DOFD.

By law, the CRAs have to go by DOFD in determining drop-off date. So why EQ confuses the masses by referring to DOLA, when in fact the DOLA they are referring to is really the DOFD.

Thanks............I don't have an EQ report, mine is from CSC? It shows DOFD, not DOLA.

Re: Do all three CRAs go by DOFD for deletion?

OK, so the Spiegel on my Experian that shows a total of 26 90plus days late payments, that I am getting no response from Equifax or Spiegel in GW'ing or disputing the way its shown (it was paid per a debt management plan all that time) and was paid off in October, will delete off approximately 4 years (when it first went 90 days late) from now instead of 7 ???  Yehah...cause I am having no luck correcting it.  Last round of letters went out last week...I think if they don't work, will just leave alone.  Hoping to rid it, but can live with it for 4 if I have to....doesn't show that way on Exquifax or Transunion.
