Title says it all. I've heard that some NPSL cards report your highest balance as your credit limit (not as the seprate "highest balance" entry on a credit report).
Is there any truth to this?
Some credit cards do not set a credit limit per se, such as AmEx.
If the card is a revolving account with no set CL, then FICO will use the high balance in calculation of % util.
The creditor does not actually report it as a CL.
Ah ok I guess that part was lost in translation. Too bad no cards incorrectly report CL.
It's not really too bad as it would be a double edged sword. Unless you reduced the balance just prior to reporting it would report as 100% each time you set the high water mark.

Ha that's exactly what I do. Always PIF before the statement cuts so my util is zero. That's how I get an automatic CLI every few months.
