Do hard pulls stack?

Something that has been really on my mind lately is this:

I have a hard Inq from Cap1 on all CRAs. My question is, if I re-apply in a month, will it be considered another hard pull (in addition to the older one)? Or will the old one not be on there, replaced by the new one?

It's really been bugging me lately and I know it will come up a lot when I'm apping.

Thanks for the help!!!

Re: Do hard pulls stack?

You will have additional hard pulls every time you apply.  They will show as individual inquiries on your reports.

Are you sure you want six inquiries across three reports just to open one account?

I definitely do not want that! Smiley Very Happy I haven't re-apped for anything -- waiting until May to do any more apps so I can increase my score a bit. I'm not planning on apping Cap1 again, just used it as an example Smiley Happy

Thank you so much for the info! It helps a lot with planning (haha I don't want to tank my score even more).

Re: Do hard pulls stack?

You will get the additional INQ's - but for scoring purposes- they will de-duplicate.

So it's not counted as a duplicate for scoring purposes? Interesting! But I can still get declined for things for "too many inquiries" right?

Yes to both questions.  They do not count as two inquiries for scoring, but they do show as two inquiries, so you can still be declined for "too many inquiries."

Re: Do hard pulls stack?

It's a toss-up...no you don't want more inquiries, but the only way your score is going to improve is to build some positive credit history.
