Does Anyone have an answer for this?

I am a myfico.com score watch user and have been since last year. I received an alert on June 30, 2008 saying my score had gone up 124 points, bringing it to 662 (yea!!!). I tried to use the score simulator and it wouldn't let me. The message said something about not being able to use it because my report was 30 old. So I pulled a credit report today (7-2-08) and it was 565. I called the myfico people, who insisted that I had some inquiries that differed from my Jan. 08 report that may have not been reported until today (7-2-08). OK, now with that being said. This guy was basically telling me that my report didn't get hit with those inquiries until after June 30th? Does any of this make sense? or is there a sever error in the system?

That seems like an awfully big point drop for a "few inquiries". Do you know what made your score go up a whopping 124 points in one day? What was new on your report on 30th and 2nd?

Re: Does Anyone have an answer for this?

Here's the thing, I had eight inquires since Feb. However, in April I got a small loan for 1500 for 24 months of which I've already paid off 1/4th of the loan. I also paid off a state tax lien and sent in the paid lien information to all C.R.A. Most of my CC's are under the limits by at least 1/2. Plus I haven't been late on any bills since last Sept. I figured it was a combination of everything that made the jump.

I would have expected it to go up incrementally rather than one big jump of 124 points same with the jump down, the inquiries especially should be real-time almost. If you pulled the report you should be able to see the reporting and inquiry dates.

Take your before and after report and look for changes. Based on what you mentioned, the inquiries didn't cause the drop. It was other things. Of my last 10 on EX, I didn't have any score hit.

The loan, if obtained in April could have first reported in May. That could hurt your score by 10-30 points depending on your history. You'll get some of those points back within a few months though. The tax lein, especially if disputed (avoid disputing) could actually appear as new on your CR thus causing a major hit.

If your CC utilization is higher now than then your score would drop.

Also, look for other changes like dropped old accounts or added accounts. Look at history of each account. Look for any new lates. If these are EQ and/or TU myFICO reports, then compare pages 2+3 and the account summary page.

If your lien was removed, then rebucketing might be an issue (it is a good thing).

Hey Ilecs, just wonderin' here ... if you DO get dinged by disputing (having it verified and looking "new" to the scoring models), how long does that last?

Does the effect of that ding fade over time like any other derog or does it fade off sooner?

Re: Does Anyone have an answer for this?

Hi Wonderin, sorry I'm not llecs but I have just been battling my fico screw ups myself with  dispute items looking like new charge offs after a dispute so I have a little first hand info...

I got dinged by  Transunion ...on an old CO account that was CO 4 years ago!

Tu just gave me an imaginery new date as CO based on my dispute/status  date..on fixing it I got 87 points as it no longer looked like a new CO! Trust me it hurt when i had it just like a new "REAL" CO would have done!

If you got dinged you need to have myfico fix it though...which took a while and they never called me back when they said they would ..have all your facts squared away before you call as well as some of the reps didn't understand what had happened at all.
    good luck  : )

Somehow I missed your post....

I would guess they fade rather quickly. When I started this in August, I disputed everything, even the good accounts. Doooh! Just when I thought I learned, I did it again in January, but limited it to just a couple accounts. One of the two was a paid car note with up to 9, I think, lates on it. The lender verified and updated with 4 more lates, one of which was a 90 day. I remember the score took a sizable hit (30+ points), but the points came back within a month or two.

It is probably a YMMV situation.

Catoridesagain-

Check both reports, do they have the same accounts, apart from the accounts you opened between Jan(when you pulled the old report) and now?

What is all the differences between them?

Are those inquiries yours?
