Does Elan report additional users to credit bureaus?

I just got the Elan Max Cash Preferred card (yay!). I would like to add an authorized user, but I think it would be bad for their credit score if it reported to a bureau.

I also heard that some credit card companies do not report authorized users to credit bureaus.

Do you know whether Elan does?

Why would the new account be bad for the AU's credit?

Only way to hurt the other persons file is carrying a high util % account.

Thanks @FireMedic1!! Can you help me understand why high utilization is the only way to hurt their score? I was more worried about it affecting the average age of my additional user's accounts.

Re: Does Elan report additional users to credit bureaus?

Good question @OmarGB9 . I was thinking maybe somehow my credit score would "contaminate" the additional user's score. Based on what @FireMedic1 said, it seems like I was worried about nothing. Smiley Happy

But I'm also concerned that it might affect my additional user's average age of accounts, age of most recent account, utilization, or other "intangibles" that I may not know about. Thoughts?

I suppose it would lower the AU's AAoA and AoYA, and reset the newest account timer, yes, but how much would depend on the AU's own individual profile. If they have a thin file, then the effects would be more magnified than if they had a thick file.

@OmarGB9handled the age metric. If your carrying a 50, 60, 70%+ util on the card. It will kill your scores and theirs. If its below 8.99% all is well. Now if they have high util on their own cards. It will add to the misery.
