Does disputing usually drop your score?

I mentioned that I disputed Cap One with EQ for not reporting my limit and after the dispute poted, my score went down 2 points.  If it comes back unchanged (because they don't report limits) will my score go back up?  Has anyone else lost points for disputing something??

Sometimes but it is very short term unless the company that verifies screws up and reports something bad as recent. It's rare but it does happen.

There are some things FICO will not calculate while a TL is in dispute. Does that mean you should dispute in hopes of increasing your score? NO! This could easily backfire.

Re: Does disputing usually drop your score?

I disputed 2 TL and lost 20 points on MyFico score about 3 weeks ago.  On Tuesday, I received notification that the disputes were resolved and today received an alert gaining the 20 points back with the correct TL.  I would not recommend disputing TL for the sake of getting the CR to report quicker which was my reasoning -- too stressful waiting for the outcome especially since I lost 20 points in the process and was not sure that I would gain all of them back.  But I did thank goodness.  My EQ dropped to 575 and is now back up to 595.  Need all the points I can get since this is my lowest score of the three.
