Does it help to have an Amex personal card when applying for an Amex business card?

Hi,

Hust wondering...I hear that once you have an Amex card there is no hard pull for applying for a second Amex card unless you are accepted. This is an awsome policy, as it protects your credit from unnecessary hard pulls.

My question is does the same principle apply when your first Amex is a personal card and the one you are applying for is a business card?

In general, does it help to have a personal Amex card before applying for an Amex business card, or doesn't it matter?

Thanks so much, would so appreciate your replyJ

Yes. You can more than likely have the expectation of not having a HP, yet there's still a chance you might, as some have received a HP.

I can actually vouch for this, I didn't get a hard pull on either of my business AMEX cards when applyng initially. I already had a revolver and a charge card with them at the time.

If you have an Amex personal card there will probably be no hard pull for a business card application; but that is not guaranteed.

Correct - excactly as stated by the Amex rep !

I did a new business card revolver app (Amazon Business Prime) while having a personal Plat card and it was a SP.

Thanks for your reply. I realize its not a sure thing. But it does sound like it helps to have a personal Amex card first.
