Drop 58 pts from removing a duplicate baddie on EQ - HOW???

Sorry, it's probably been posted before on here but I just checked the AMEX reporting, and EQ finally removed the duplicate reporting that a baddie verified on me...and my score dropped 58 pts.

How does this happen?!!  I thought it would be a good thing?!

THX!

What kind of score, FICO or FAKO? Have you check all other factors like the ratio of debt over credit limit, deliquency probably, late payment or too many recent inquiries?

There was nothing else that changedSmiley Sad  It's the score through AMEX's program...I just don't get it at all!

I hope that when the CC's report end of this month it will jump because I paid them down to 20% util...

The AmEx score is a FAKO.

But it's possible that deleting a duplicate account would drop your score, at least for now. You lost the age, the CL, and the TL count.

What was the CL on this account, how old was it, what was the baddie, how old was the baddie, and how many accounts do you have left?

Not saying don't delete, congrats for getting them to clean up their reporting, but it's as if a real account went poof, so it does impact the scores. 58 points seems pretty harsh, but since it's a FAKO score, it doesn't tell you what happened with your real score.

FICO's: EQ 781 - TU 793 - EX 779 (from PSECU) - Done credit hunting; having fun with credit gardening. - EQ 590 on 5/14/2007

Could it be that this account is old? If so, maybe your avg. age dropped because of that duplicate. If it was an old baddie, let's say 7 yrs, the neg. affects were minimal. Guessing here.

It was an old baddie - 2004 - this is the account that has been reporting duplicate since 2004...I didn't know it until late 2005, and have been battling with it ever since.

I actually have just completed the small claims documents against the JDB...the account itself has to drop off next year in October, but I was sick of it showing twice:Smiley Sad

I have (4) good accounts OPEN, and there is another one showing open on EQ that is actually closed, they are NOT reporting "info" from my AMEX yet they list it...I don't get that part...I have other good accounts on my report that have been closed (I was fine taking that hit a year ago, felt it was financially more responsible).  Other than that, there is only a tax lien that's been on there for over a year and I'm working on it now.  No lates in past 5 years...
