EQ Lockout ? Consumer Relations?? Why?

My problem with EQ is a unwillfull lockout. Its like a security freeze without me placing it on my file or something? Is this something they do to people that have their files disputed often. I was told by a woman in EQ consumer relations that no bank or merchant can see my file or recieve a copy of my file if they try to pull my credit, its under internal investigation because i had some things removed (such as that whole Chase business account that  was popping up on everyones personal credit when it switched over from Wamu). Not to mention other things, I was a victim of identity theft in the past. I just had my fraud alert removed and my file open to promotional offers. I was looking to refinance my vehichle now and I dont know how thats possible when no one can see a copy of my file. I use to have a credit lock on my file online but i downgraded the service because it was always getting stuck.and EQ online was always frozen or not working! She says its for my safety to verify each account, ok i understand that but why would u lock every one out?  When i asked how long does it take to complete the investigation they said they dont know. Sounds like BS to me....

Today I went online and now I can no longer see a copy of my credit score either, it says this product is no longer available?

Is this legal? Is this something they do to people who dispute often, what can be done?

Re: EQ Lockout ? Consumer Relations?? Why?

Have you previously EVER subscribed to or purchased credit reports, monitoring service or other services through EQ?

If so, they provide this seemingly neat ability to "LOCK" your CR.  The problem is, once it is locked you can only "temporarily" unlock it and not for more than 1 year.  And if you cancel your service, the lock goes back into effect either at cancelation or 1 year from the date that it was unlocked.

The only way I found to get mine unlocked was to sign back up and unlock it on the site.

Seems like a real racket to me.
