EXPERIANHLTH Soft Pull: Fraud??

I have a soft pull on my EX credit report from "EXPERIANHLTH" I don't know what this is or why it is there. Should I be concerned? I don't have and never had medical debt. I do have a mildly common name, not that common but common enough especially since I only have a first and last name.

Oddly enough, the date of this soft pull is the date I scheduled an appt to see a doctor at a place I've never been. I made the appt via phone and the scheduling rep never said that they would pull my credit report and I never gave them my SSN.

Also, I have been permanently opted out of promotions on my reports for years, AKA "promotional Opt-Out." So, this can't be a promo pull for marketing purposes: See 5 and a half year old post

It appears on my report as this:

EXPERIANHLTH

Re: EXPERIANHLTH Soft Pull: Fraud??

just a SP but interesting..  I work right next to this location where they are located.  I would call the number and find out if you owe anything to any dr's as they appear to do revenue cycle stuff for various hospitals, etc..  Doesnt hurt and call the be safe then fight a collection at a later time or certainly they might of got your info confused if very common name..

Some places use a soft pull to confirm your identity.  They can do that without a social, and it may be buried in their terms of service that they may use that info.  It does not affect your credit and doesn't mean anyone applied for anything.

This is not a collection agency, nor identity verification.

It really has nothing to do with you as a consumer, it's meant to streamline revenue cycle.  You must have made an appointment with a large provider group that utilizes their services.

Thanks to data mining, they might have your current insurance info, previous insurance coverage, they will do benefits and eligibility investigation etc.

It's a lot easier on large provider groups than hiring 25 people to do the leg work prior to the appointment.

Because of it, be prepared to pay your copay at the time of service, if office visit is subject to deductible, you might be asked to pay entire amount at the time of service
