EXTRA, EXTRA...Will EX Be The First CRA To Implement FICO's New Scoring Model

This just in! This article is confirming EX will be the first CRA... Darn it had to be the evil CRA, EX.

Seems kind of strange that the first announcement wouldn't come directly from a Fair Isaac press release. I wonder if the About.com writer is working off a rumor or actually has a confirmed source.

I'm a little skeptical about this reporter on about.com, why would Experian be worrying about the FICO scoring model when they are trying to push their vantage score. Wouldn't jumping on the FICO model kind of make their vantage score model look less superior?

I am skeptical too. A lot of people were betting it would be EQ. I wasn't one of them though. EX is the brainchild of the three and probably gets pulled the most out of the three.

EX has become a leader in the FICO game (as much as they hate everyone)

This would not suprise me a bit.  Everyone is using EX because they do not bend a bit on anything.

Agreed! I am thinking the same.

I highly doubt this is true.. my money is still on EQ.

Agree. The about.com story was posted on Friday, and if there had been any sort of decision or announcement, or even a leak, there would have been a bunch of copycat stories posted by now. At the moment, a search finds nothing.

To further muddy the water, Fair Isaac originally said that the September decision might partly depend on when each CRA's FICO formula was last updated (whoever currently has the oldest formula might be first to get the new formula). I think TU's formula is from 2004 - anyone know when EQ's Beacon 5.0 formula and EX's FI Risk Model formula were last updated?

Update! I emailed the author of the link I posted, LaToya Irby, and asked her if her source was reliable. This was her reply.

Hi HAWAII FIC-O:

No, Fair Isaac has not made any kind of announcement.  I read in an article on MSN that Experian will be first.  I made a correction to the post because I don't want consumers to have incorrect information.

Thanks for that catch.

Regards,

LaToya
