Early Exlusion questions..

Hello everyone.
I co signed for a student loan years ago.. And it's still on my report. It's finally been paid. However the lates are killing my score.
It's suppose to drop off Experian June of next year. And drop off Transunion Sept of next year. When is the earliest I can request a EE? This is a private student loan..
Thank you in advance

Re: Early Exlusion questions..

Disclaimer, I don't know if SLs are subject to EE but in general

TU, six months. Call and ask for supervisor. Usually goes without a problem.

EX, three months and they are  treated  as a dispute. It works for some people, for others it was an epic fail. So, it would depend on your risk tolerance and if 3 months are worth potentially crashing your score again

EQ one month. Don't. Just don't. Really. Don't.

Re: Early Exlusion questions..

Thank You Remedios
Oddly enough.. It's not reporting on my Equifax.. Which I'm grateful for. Also do you think a goodwill letter would help for now? To get the late removed? It's a private student loan, and they seem to be less forgiving, even though the loan is paid.. I'll never cosign for anything else.. I wish I could go back, and kick the 21 year old me in the a**.. Lol

Re: Early Exlusion questions..

You can try GW letters, I guess the success would depend on servicer. At least you know late(s) will be gone soon, and now that it's paid and closed, there wont be any more updates.

21 year old me would probably kick me Smiley LOL

Re: Early Exlusion questions..

Thanks again.. I think I'll just continue to wait it out.. I've been reading on here that Firstmark/Nelnet is hard to crack when it comes to removing lates..

Re: Early Exlusion questions..

Just FYI:  EEs are a lot harder to get for lates than they are for derogatory account removals.   If the account is otherwise in good standing (I'm assuming since it's paid, it is), I would leave it alone so that they don't just delete the account early (positive accounts can stay on your report longer).

You can try to goodwill them, and you have better odds because the account is paid, but you are right - Nelnet is not easy about giving goodwill adjustments.
