Education Finance Service (SL) - only EX still reporting - any way I can delete?

EX is still reporting one of my student loans as "Closed (Paid"). TU & EQ have deleted this already.

The DOFD (120 days past due) was Dec-2000.   

Am I correct in calculating that this isn't expected to be removed until June 2007?

If so is there anything I can do or should I wait this one out until it falls off?

On Ex does it show the removal date?

IF DOFD is Dec 00- lates are already starting to drop off right?

If the removal date is wrong on EX- dispute as "Obsolete/ Too Old to report"

It doesn't show a removal date on EX.

I have a copy of an EX report from May 06 and it shows "recent balance: $0 as of Jun 2005".

My TrueCredit report shows :

Condition: Closed (Paid)

Pay Status: Collection/Chargeoff

Late Payments (last 7 years): 0

Two Year Payment History:  CO (May 05) and CO (Jun 05)

Based on the DO of Dec-00 and above is this still having a neg impact on my EX score?

Should I then proceed with EX dispute "obsolete/too old to report"?

Yes- That will be alot easier than trying to get the status changed.

I disputed as too old to  report with  EX but no response from them yet.

The DOFD was  12/2000.  I will dispute again with  EX.

Even though this is still reporting will the age of this help my score a bit because  I am passing the 7 year mark?

The lates should fall off after seven years.  Dispute the 120 late as obsolete.  If it is a CO more beneficial to get the whole account removed.....if possible

Late payments are off my report.

The DOFD was 12/2000 but the  chargeoff date was 05/2005.  I will continue to dispute it as obsolete but they probably won't delete until April 2008.  This is the date EX advised it is due to come  off my  report.

I'm still in a mess with EX as they are reporting this CO. 

They said that they report until "7 years from the date the account was closed" rather than DOFD.

What can I do as they say these are the rules for a closed account?

Who told you that? Was it by letter, phone or email. That information is incorrect. 7 years is from DOLA to prevent exactly this issue. Otherwise creditors could simply "forget" to close an account keeping negatives on your report for decades.

If you spoke to someone on the phone I would follow up with a supervisor. If you get nowhere I would send a request for it to be removed as obsolete by certified mail request any results of the investigation to be mailed. I think it unlikely EX would put it is writing that negative accounts remain on record until 7 years after close.
