@Anonymouswrote:The most recent feedback I heard was that half price memberships weren't being offered upon cancellation lately. I know I have not been offered one at least the last 3-4 times, but I haven't inquired either. Also, FYI, if you started your trial on the 13th, you would need to cancel it by the 20th; waiting until the 22nd as you suggested above would likely result in you being billed for a full monthly membership, as you would have gone past the 7 day trial window.
OK. I asked because the wording on the CCT site implied that I had a 2-day grace period after the 7-day trial period, but if that's not so, then it's not so. It's entirely possible that I'll let this run for at least one month's membership and see if it's worth keeping then, if I decide not to proceed then, it's only a total of $31.
When you cancel a $1 trial membership, they will tell you that the account will remain open for 3 additional days at no charge, thus giving you a 10 day trial for $1. Any time from Day 7 to Day 10 you can pull your 3B reports/scores again for no additional charge.
In my experience you get the whole 10 day trial with a second 3B pull after day 7 even if you cancel early in the week. I have canceled as early as day 2 and still gotten the second pull. No need to make cancelling stressful. If you start early you can just hang up if the estimated call wait is too long. I have tended to cancel later in the week when needing to talk to a live person to cancel versus just using the automated phone system they used to have available more often.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Right now, I think I'm going to take the full month's membership and decide next month whether it's worth staying on for the long run. I do like getting the accurate FICO 8 scores every week - I refreshed today - so we'll see whether I'm still of the same mind in April.

@A best practice to avoid this though is to use a pre-paid card or gift card that has < $25 balance on it. I have one that I just for JUST CCT $1 trials. It's got like $19 left on it, which is good for another 18 trials. If they try to bill you a full month, which is $27 or $28, it will decline as you won't have sufficient funds on the card. wrote:
Another trick that also works:
I saved my CANCELLED credit card with exp date of 03/2020. After a website charges their $1 (or whatever it is) to my CURRENT card, I "update" my billing info to the CANCELLED card. The checksum always accepts the card.
This is also works for websites where you want "somewhat of a relationship" with (auction sites, online vendors, etc) and also require you to have "a credit card on file" yet you only use them once or twice per year for that elusive HDMI cord or whatever.
I can't tell you how many times I have cancelled with a service, and have later gotten an email that "the recurring charge on my monthly subscription" failed to go thru. This way, it doesn't run up a charge, even on a temporary gift card.

Agreed on cancelling sooner rather than later. I've literally cancelled 5 minutes after starting a trial in the past, just to ensure I get it out of the way. And yes, they do give you the full 10 days even if you do that.
