I am trying to open a checking account with a credit union. Apparently they pull Equifax as part of this process. They denied the checking account and stated Equifax isn’t providing any information.
I called and spoke with Equifax and they stated they have an internal issue and I need to submit some things via mail to fix these issues. I said no problem can you send this to me in writing and they refuse. I’ve called and spoken with them a few times and it’s the same story, send us this stuff but we won’t put in writing that you need to send us this stuff.
Under FCRA they are required to provide me written notice of restrictions on my account but they oddly refuse to do so which is making this whole situation fishy.
Has anyone encountered this before and have any recommendations on how to proceed? All of my information on Equifax is correct which is again, making this odd.
Check if there's something wonky with your LexisNexis, EWS, and ChexSystems consumer reports. There may be something there you weren't aware of that bled over onto data provided to/by one of the other Equifax services.

Thanks, it's probably ChexSystems. My lease just ended and I filed a dispute with them for something else. Used a different mailing address.
