Equifax FICO Score

Getting very frustrated. Trying to get a gauge of where my wife stands in reference to credit score and what creditor my actually be seeing. I pulled FICO 8 from Experian for all CA's and got score from Equifax. Then purchased 3 & 1 with 4 scores directly from Equifax and FICO score there was 32 points lower then what Experian showed for Equifax FICO 8 on thier site! Also, Equifax on score system there was an even greater difference. What good is monitoring if you have no idea what or who is correct? Is there a dependable FICO 8 monitoring system to use?

Re: Equifax FICO Score

The Equifax score you received from Experian is FICO8; it is dependable, and the model used by lenders to make decisions.

The score sold to you by Equifax is NOT a FICO Score - it is the Equifax score based on their own proprietary model.

Transunion does the same thing - the scores they sell are not FICO -- they are based on the Vantage 3 model (same as Credit Karma).

Monitor the FICO 8s provided on the Experian site. FICO scores are the ones with which you should concern yourself as they are used by >90% of lenders.

Re: Equifax FICO Score

Thanks! What's throwing me off is Experians FICO 8 for Equifax is 800. I found product offered by Equifax that says gives FICO 8 and that came up 768! Supposedly both FICO 8. Actually Equifax offered their own score model and the other said FICO SCORE didn't specifically say which FICO model. This was the link to purchase it from Equifax: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.equifax.com/cs/Satellite%3Fpagename...

Re: Equifax FICO Score

Hmmm... so the FICO from Equifax may not be FICO 8 but one of the other FICO models (there are several). Does it say FICO 8 next to the score? Odd that the link does not specify a model.

The only other way to find out is to sign up for your 3 bureau report from myFICO. It will cost you but they provide all 28(?) versions of your FICO score spanning across the 3 bureaus. You can then match the scores with what you have to determine which model you were given by Equifax.

What you received from Experian is most likely the FICO 8 model -- unless it says otherwise as they do also sell a Plus score. But the FICO 8 scores on Experian literally have the FICO 8 trademark next to them.

Re: Equifax FICO Score

Also - which Experian product did you purchase? If it was either IdentityWorks or CreditWorks then they definitely gave you FICO 8 scores (I've used both products).

Re: Equifax FICO Score

Correct, Experian says FICO 8 powered by Equifax data. The FICO I got from Equifax doesn't say which FICO it is. Matter a fact the product I purchased I came across by googling Equifax FICO 8. If you go directly to Equifax it doesn't show this as a current product. Noticed the link had satellite in the address. Not sure what that refers to

Re: Equifax FICO Score

Yess. That's why I initially thought you purchased the Equifax score model because that's what is sold in their main website.

I'm guessing the gave you a score based on one of the other FICO score models. - perhaps one of the Bankcard models (they are often lower than the FICO 8). It's so scammy of them not to tell you which model they're providing.

Re: Equifax FICO Score

Would I need all 3 bureau reports or can I just pull FICO Scores for Equifax?

Re: Equifax FICO Score

I, unfortunately, don't know of any service that allows for a single Equifax report and FICO 8 score pull. I've never used myFICO, but I'm fairly certain their plan options are based on a 3 bureau pull.
