Greetings All . . . I think I really messed-up by contacting Equifax in 2019 and 2020. I was behind on my BoA payments and made payment arrangements in April 2015 but couldn’t maintain and defaulted in December 2015. When I started my 2019 credit rebuilding I found that all 3 CRAs reflected that I was current on my BoA account in July 2016, which was incorrect as my last payment was a partial payment December 31, 2015. I have all my receipts and original credit card statements as proof.
Equifax was the worst ever to deal with and it was over 2 years of going back and forth with all CRAs; that I finally told EX and TU that I planned to obtain an attorney since it’s evident that BoA made an error. Thankfully EX and TU both deleted the CO and my credit reports are 100% clean. I decided not to contact EQ after reading the horror stories of them causing more damage than good to a credit report and to let it alone until December 2022. On many posts, I’ve voiced my opinion about EQ being really horrible but I didn’t expect this!
Fast forward to 2021, yesterday (6/9/2021) I logged into my “free” EQ account and downloaded all available credit reports (12 months) and I determined that now it appears to break in my chain of delinquencies. In June 2020, my EQ report reflected BoA as a CO in August 2016, now the COs purge monthly; so as of May 31, 2021 the August 2016 through April 2021 COs reflect “No Data Available”. It has to be on EQ as my report reflects that the last time BoA reported was June 2019. EQ shows the DOFD as January 1, 2016 and the added a statement that I dispute the account information. I sincerely appreciate any input. Thanks all.
Forget for a moment how the payment history profile (e.g., prior monthly derogs) have been reported and are showing in your credit report.
When do your own records show that you first become delinquent and have thereafter remained delinquent until the current date? December 2015?
That is your date of first delinquency. Does your credit report at annualcreditreport.com reflect reporting of a DOFD by the creditor?
Continuous delinquency is reflected by your billing and payment history, which is shown by your billing and payment records.
The accuracy of how that history is being reported can then be challenged and corrected if inaccurate.
Thank you so much RobertEG for responding . . .
Since it's a CO, payment history means very little at this point. I don't think disputing it would help any. If anything, the update to the derogatory account would hurt.
And no matter what the payment history says, the DOFD determines when it will fall off. So yes, it should still fall off 12/22.
