Does anyone else have an issue with getting their identity verified by Equifax? Every time I call, I answer all their questions and then they tell me to fax over a copy of my DL & SSN card which I have on two separate occasions (and they validate that they have received my faxes).
I disputed some late payments (from 2012/2013 all on one acct) with them and they sent me a letter stating that the account was updated to show no late payments yet when I log into my Equifax acct, it is still showing the late payments. I get so frustrated with them and their inability to be of any assistance.
I believe I disputed something (AU account) online last year with no problems.
this week I called to dispute something trivial, previous employment which is a duplicate of my current employment. the only reason I tried calling was because when trying to correct the info via the online dispute process, it asks to update with my current employer, which is the same.
was also told they were unable to identify me, this after only asking name, address, dob, ssn. I asked the agent how exactly they tried to verify me after only asking those items and was told they could not give any information. HUCA same thing, asked for a supervisor, same thing.
what a joke.

Just went through this. Had to fax my ss card and license the other week. I called this morning and he said he escalted the issue that I can't do any disputes etc on the site because it tells me to call in to customer service and verify my identity. EQ is the WORST OF THE WORST.

Tell me about it... They're the only ones who refuse to remove the one and only late payment on one of my old accounts. I was able to goodwill the late payment, which EX and TU removed immediately, but EQ just freaking won't. The guy I've been talking to about this whole thing told me that EQ is the most difficult bureau to work with and that he would delete the entire tradeline from EQ if I wanted. I said no because the account is really old and the late payment will fall off in like 8 months anyways. I feel like removing it would have a more negative impact than just leaving it with the one late payment. However, my EQ score is about 30 points lower than the other 2. I wonder if that 30 day late is the culprit? I don't know how it could be seeing as how it's from like 7 years ago! Ugh, seriously, screw EQ. They should really be ashamed of themselves!
Yes, 30 points for a single 30 day that old is certainly possible. Negative info hurts your credit file significantly as long as it is on there.
I am going nuts with Equifax. My wife passed and one of her accounts that I was an AU on went to a 30 day late and overlimit. I went on their site to dispute and apparently I didn't answer a screening quesiton to their satisfaction so they locked me out. I called and they asked what my car payment was, I said $304 then they asked if I had any credit cards, answer yes, ok what is the payment. My question to them was what card, when etc. We use and pay credit cards down all the time what a terrible question. The then tells me he can't identity me so he can't help. He tells me to send documents into them to indentify me, so I ask a natural question of what happens after I do that? No answer. I get online and chat with a rep and same thing. Imagine a company that their agents have no idea of the process. I sent a letter to the CEO but I doubt I will hear back from them.

Yeah, of course, but I thought 30 day lates hurt less the older they are. Mine is just about to fall off early next year. I always thought it was the 60+ lates that hurt the entire time they were on there. Whatevs! I'm not applying for anything other than CLI's for the next year, so I'll be leaving that puppy alone. I don't want EQ to screw things up even worse than they already have. Knowing my luck...

Maybe for the credit card questions you can look at your latest credit report and see what it's reporting your monthly payment as? Even if you pay your cards down to $0, that would mean your monthly payment is $0. They're just absolutely ridiculous.
