Interestingly, it looks like you actually could sue Equifax for their credit lock product. TransUnion and Experian have forced arbitration but Equifax does not.

I was having the hardest time getting EQ temp unfrozen about 4 months ago for a valuable SP HSBC bonus ... seriously a circular hell. MyEquifax online blocked and sending me to call Customer Service...answering CS verifications correctly (all 5 q's not applicable - both via automated system and live person) and then being told they can't verify and to send DL & SSN card via fax.
The fax option worked and freeze was lifted within a day ... then tried again a week ago before my AOD FCU application but EQ didn't thaw even after the IDs sent via fax -- which is its own seriously flawed security risk having copies of IDs floating around.
I felt like I was losing my mind - around and around it went until I found a "real human" number EQ Global Consumer Solutions at 1-866-640-2273 and pressing 4 to speak to a product specialist. I only waited a few minutes and the agent could see that my profile was locked so asked simple verification questions and unblocked it. He waited on the line for me to change passwords and then said to wait 24 hrs before l tried to log in again. Next day again it was blocked and sending to the original nightmare route.
Finally I decided to "try" and set up an account with EQ Lock & Alert which asked for my original EQ PIN from years ago and seems to have worked for me. Ultimately it removes the Federal freeze and replaces it with EQ own product which doesn't inspire confidence.
My thinking at the moment is at least its better than having the report completely open

Thank you. Ripped off my freeze altogether.
I was "this close" to doing the same ... and would have done if the "Lock & Alert" didn't work
@AnonymousI had the same issue maybe a month ago. I tried around three or four times and it finally worked. So my advice is to sign in and out and keep trying. Different browser, etc. Although the issue is clearly with Equifax.

Fortunately I succeeded in removing the freeze entirely. I'll get my app done next month when I'm at AZEO because my DTI is way too high right now and then I'll think about putting the freeze back.
