I disputed an authorized user account reporting several lates on my file to have it removed. I file the dispute, looking at the credit report no account number is provided, so I was unable to provide one (it is my mother's account and dealing with this through her would be a real pain.) I get no email confirmation of any kind. A week goes by and I hear nothing, so I try to log into the system. It won't even try to give me the security questions and says I need to call them for whatever reason. So I do that, request a callback. An hour later someone calls me back. Apparently since I did not provide an account number, they decided to add my dispute simply as comments on the account (how does this make sense?) They were unable to provide any insights as to their online system not letting me view my disputes online.
They take another dispute over the phone with me, I assume properly this time, and I get a confirmation email. Two days later I get an email the dispute was resolved. I go to the dispute status online and it lets me this time! There is a PDF of my dispute resolution. I click on it, the system hicups, gives me an error and logs me out. I go to check it again, and back to some kind of mystery lockout.
I call again, get someone who can barely speak English. It took 20 minutes for them to get to my dispute on their screen. They say it was resolved as the account listed is no longer on my file. I was unable to do anything but request a copy of my credit report in the mail.
A few days later I am able to pull my report on Credit Karma. Unsurprisingly, the account is still there.
I'm about to give up, I was doing this for a mortgage refi but I gave up on the idea and FICO 8 ignores the account and it is no issue for any other application. Of course now I have some weird dispute comments on the account.
Don't give up. Keep at it.
Peter1142 what I think about the aforementioned credit bureau would get censored! How can they be in business? The Feds want to reduce the regulations on credit bureaus.
We can't get things resolved today ... how is that going to help? Tried to obtain my Equifax Annual Credit Report. They go through all the history screening questions and then throw me out of the system and tell me to write and include copies of my Drivers License and Social Security Card. Not impressed. Good luck, maybe some will post a solution?
Don’t give up and don’t look to credit karma to give you accurate information quickly, the account probably has not been updated. I just got an alert from credit wise (Cap1) about new addresses that showed up on my report, they happen to be old addresses from 7 years ago that credit wise just picked up in 2019?
When you file a dispute, it says it can take up to 30 days or longer, in your case you called got it resolved. Again credit karma seems to update monthly and not weekly or days, regardless of what they say on the website.
I think this is a good post on the downside of being an Authorized user, things can go downhill quickly. I myself am a Authorized user with Discover, I am the only one that uses it and I treat as my own personal card knowing that If I have lates, its going to affect my credit report. I keep track of everything going on with the card, and if your authorized user, you should too. The upside is its reporting to your credit report and it helps out, if you need a boost in scores.
I found Equifax the easier of the 3 to work with followed by Experian, Transunion is dead last and the worst in my experience.
I would say give it a week or so, and pull from Fico and not Credit Karma.

Wait....was this suppose to be a newsflash??? It is a bit like the weatherman telling us it is raining while we all stand outdoors getting soaked.
Very sorry you are dealing with this. I think every single person that has ever had to deal with EQ can say they are utter garbage.

Yeah I concur about Equifax... I have been fighting them on a dispute over a charge off on my file... I’m on dispute number three because the first two over the phone (because I couldn’t get into the system online) weren’t done properly. They are the most infuriating company I have ever worked with and I have a feeling I am going to be stuck because of their incompetence the first two times — thank goodness this will fall off in August anyway but my score getting tanked by this mess hasn’t been pleasant!
I don't think a situation such as this is limited to just EQ. There are lots of horror stories related to EX and TU as well in terms of responsiveness and level of service. One can't ever have high expectations when dealing with these entities.
