I want to invest my tax refund and thought about online trading. Maybe a dumb question but would opening an etrade account do a HP?
The first hit on this Google search:
etrade hard pull
says "no".
But I wouldn't stake too much on this kind of information.
I believe Schwab does a hard pull for their online checking, which is part of a brokerage account.
I would call because YMMV.
Most trading accounts do not require any sort of HP. I use Scottrade, and they are $7 per trade which is cheaper than ETrade. They did not do a HP for me when I opened.
My ShareBuilder did pull an HP on mine.

Call them and ask because Scottrade did not for me, but Merrill Edge + did for their brokerage account
I have a Etrade account. I have had it for about 3 years. They didnt check credit back then. No hard or even soft pull has ever shown up on any of my reports. I called first because I was concerned also. Charles Schwab on the other hand does check your credit.
Scott Trade did not for me.
