Hi all!
I had been granted a GW from AmeriCredit due to having to pay my last payment in installments. They deleted 1 each 120,90,60 and 30. What was left was 4 (now 3 due to age) old 30s. EX was still reporting the 30 that was deleted.
I have a contact in the Dispute Dept at Americredit and she verified the correct reporting. So I disputed the extra 30 that EX had on my report. They took the whole month and then deleted the whole trade line. It was my oldest trade line. The last late was 3 years and 8 months ago. The others will age off in June and July of 2010.
Which is worse; The loss of my oldest account (7 yrs 11 mos, my next oldest is 5 yrs) and the hit to my AAoA or the 3 lates still reporting if I ask Americredit to re-report? I know that once the last 30s age off, AmeriCredit should report as positive for up to 10 years.
If it helps, with AmeriCredit gone my only neg TL is a 6 year old CO from First Premier that I am GWing to death. If successful, big "IF", my EX will be completely clean.
Thanks for your help,
CB
I would not ask them to restore an account which would put derogs back on your CR unless I had no plans for apply for new credit before these derogs would expire from your CR at 7 years.
Be careful. If you get them to restore all account information except for the derogs, it will help.
But if they just restore it as a new account, it will add a new, zero aged account.
Lenghth of credit does not score as much as prior derogs.
What is your AAoA wth and without this account?
If they put the derogs back on, I would not do it just to improve AAoA unless you can live with the derogs now.
Thanks RobertEG,
I was thinking along those lines but wanted to be sure. I haven't calculated my AAoA yet but I did notice that when AmeriCredit dissapeared off of EQ for a few weeks (still trying to figure that one out) my score went up 22 points. Guess I'll leave well enough alone.
Update: Calculated AAoA with oldest account at 5 yrs 8 mo. AAoA is 2.42. I had 2 new CC and had to replace a vehicle that was totaled for a total of 3 new CL less than 7 mos old.

This is always the danger in disputing something on a closed account. The lender frequently just closes the whole thing.
+1 IT happens each and every time with any creditor. I learnt my lesson a while back.

Too bad it doesn't work that way with old COs. ![]()
