Experian Identity Protection, Should I pay for it or Not?

Hey there,

Just a question about the Experian Identity Protection that you are required to pay for. I logged into my Experian today just to check my report and it offers the Identity Protection for 30 days free then $9.99 after that per month.

Anyway, under the Identity Protection Tab it has a 6 then below it says "We looked back to 2006 and found 6 records exposed on the Dark Web.

This could indicate potential identity theft."  SO I am wondering if this is just an attempt to get me to pay for this extra feature each month or if there are issues I am not aware of such as Identity theft or other issues relating to my personal info, name,ss etc. I have no alerts about anything from anyplace so I just wanted to ask about this part of Experian.

If anyone else uses this feature please chime in and let me know if its just to get extra money or if it really helps etc.

Thanks

Nope..I wouldn't. I can normally get it for free. All it takes in one of my lenders to have a breach.
I have several year free trials now. Can't even remember them all.😂

Re: Experian Identity Protection, Should I pay for it or Not?

I just got all 3 reports+scores+this id protection thing for $5.30-first month then ~$25/month from Experian. It was telling me the same thing(6 notification mark) and wasn't able to see too much but after checking it earlier it is actually nothing...It only goes through all of them and clears them as no issues found...Was the same for my husband so it's probably nothing wrong.. kinda scammy of Experian, iyam... You can just try it for free and cancel after you check it out, for peace of mind Smiley Wink

Yeah, after doing a search online about it, I found it is just a marketing tool to get people to pay for something that they don't need. If there was a real issue i am sure I would be notified and know etc. Thanks
