Experian Inquiry Question

Hello,

I noticed when viewing my recent Experian Report under Soft Inquiries I saw this comment "EXPERIAN/AMEXREFRESH" on 8/23/18 and 8/09/18.

Is this an American Express Inquiry or something else?

I dont have any current Amex accounts.  I had 4 Amex accounts before I filed Chapter 7 BK on 10/10/13.  My Costco Amex was the only account IIB for $500.

Sounds like they're just soft pulling you to see if they can extend preapprovals to you via marketing.  Alternately, even though you no longer have an open account with them do you still have an online management account open where they're just refreshing your free Experian FICO 08 score?

It looks like a standard request under the process set forth in FCRA 604(c), which permits a creditor with whom you have no current accounts and have not initiated a request for credit to submit criteria to a CRA and obtain a listing of consumers whose files meet the stated screening criteria.  The statute mandates that if your name is provided, it can only be shown as a soft-pull.

If it is a standard promotional inquiry, that is good news, in that in informs you that your file qualified under the provided screening criteria.

It cannot, by statute, be shown in any report issued to others, and thus cannot affect your score.

Thank you all for the comments.  I was hoping that I might be able to be part of the Amex family again.

Amex was included in my Ch 7 Bk for $500 back in 10/10/13.  I am a week or so short of being 5 years since the BK was filed.

I will try to apply again most likely in November 2018 to see if I am off the blacklist.
