I am disputing three experian accounts. On one, the status of the dispute indicates that the result is in (showed open, but is actually closed and in good-standing).
The other two (charge off's), are showing as 'pending'. However, I refreshed my experian credit report just a few moments ago ... and they are both gone. This was not the case yesterday. The two charge-off's are being deleted by the creditor in exchange for payment (PFD). Is this 'normal' that Experian removes them from the report, during the dispute process? The dispute status on the status page shows 'pending' but they are no longer on the report.
Thoughts?
Did you see your score go up?
It means the creditor reported deletion of charge-offs to the CRAs, and the CRA posted them before the CRA concluded the reinvestigation of your dispute.
They may even have reported deletion prior to reporting their investigation results back to the CRA. In fact, it should work that way. They promptly deleted without waiting for CRA formal conclusion of the dispute.
When the furnisher separately reports the results of their investigatin back to the CRA, the CRA concludes its "reinvestigation" of the dispute, the dispute flag will be lifted.
Just administrative stuff.
Ok. I re-checked the Experian report through a refresh this morning. The two accounts are still gone. Also, I checked the dispute status. Shows both accounts as pending. But, they are not on the report. So ....
Now, TransUnion - I have disputed with them as well. I called TU for a status update today. They told me, in their best English voice that the dispute status is pending and that the accounts are still reporting as charged off. BEFORE I called TU, I went to credit karma. Refreshed my report info. The accounts, I believe are not part of the report and the transrisk score shot up 60 points. In the 'balance' section for auto loans, it shows the decreased amount, for the charge-off's. But like I said, TU said they are still reporting. Not sure what to make of the disconnect between credit karma and a live person with TU.
Equifax ... I disputed. Came back as 'verified'. Perhaps the system will catch up with itself and delete the accounts, based on the hard delete info from the creditor. Not sure. I am waiting to see how the equifax one plays out.
Update: Trans Union and Experian have both removed the pay for deleted items. No more baddies. Equifax though, ... Still on there.
Funny though, I did a soft pull from Equifax this morning. In the summary section, the combined total balance of the two PFD's have been removed as well as their respective monthly payment amounts from the summary of credit yet, they are both physically on the report in the negative section. Is this normal? Is this an indication that they are in the process of dropping off the report completely?
I saw this with TU as well, as I noted in an earlier post. I did the credit karma thing and saw where the total combined balance/monthly payment amount was deducted from the total.

During a dispute that information is ignored. If it was going to be deleted, it would just go poof.
Yeah, I figured as my much. That is what my gut told me, too.
I refreshed yet again this morning to only find that Equifax is STILL reporting the two accounts. That dispute I had open, was closed on 1/25 so that should not be impacting the credit summary (balances and payment amounts). Like I said, the info is not included in the summary but they are on the report.
I have a call in to the Equifax Executive Customer Service team. Lets see if that helps. The 'regular' customer service folks are about useless. Very, very hard to understand. They do not get the meaning of what your saying. They truly do sound as though they are reading from scripts.
I am not sure where else to go, or what else to do to get these removed. Removing these two accounts is authorized by the creditor. That's the real funny part. There cleared for delete and Equifax isnt executing.
Not wise to trust Experian to give you accurate credt scores. The Experian scoring is rarely used and consistanly inflated (positively). Perhaps to make the member feel better, I am not sure.
